The Ports and Transport Department, Govt. of Gujarat on August 05, 2026, issued the Gujarat Motor Vehicles (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2026, further to amend the Gujarat Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
They shall come into force on August 05, 2026.
The amendment revises the designation of transport authorities in Rules 3, 24 and 40, replacing the words “Assistant Regional Transport Officer” with “Regional Transport Officer” for various specified offices.
The change applies to Ahmedabad (East), Bardoli, Amreli, Bharuch, Gandhinagar, Surendranagar, Dahod, Navsari, Anand, Patan, Morbi, Bavala and Anjar. In the case of Anjar, the existing reference “Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Anjar (Kutch-East)” is specifically replaced with “Regional Transport Officer, Anjar.”
